Men's Therapy

When holding it together stops working.

For men who feel they have to hold it all together and are quietly running on empty. In person in Philadelphia and online across Pennsylvania.

Who this is for

You feel like you have to handle everything. You show up, provide, perform. But lately it feels like no matter how much you do, it's never enough, and the pressure has nowhere to go. Maybe you've gotten more irritable, more shut down, or more distant from the people you care about, without quite knowing why.

You might not call it anxiety or depression. It might just feel like stress, a short fuse, trouble sleeping, or going through the motions. A lot of men were never given much room to feel, only to perform. Therapy here is a place to set that down for an hour and be honest about what's actually happening.

This might be a fit if…

  • You feel overwhelmed or stretched thin, but you're used to pushing through.
  • You've become defensive, irritable, or quick to shut down with the people closest to you.
  • It feels like you can never do enough, no matter how hard you try, and feedback from the people close to you has gotten harder to hear.
  • You feel disconnected from your emotions, your partner, or your kids.
  • You're carrying stress, anger, or sadness you don't have anywhere to put.

Why it can be hard to just ask

Most men were raised to handle things on their own. Needing help can feel like failing, so you wait. You tell yourself it's just stress, that you'll deal with it once things slow down. They rarely slow down.

Asking for help isn't weakness. It usually takes more nerve to look honestly at what's going on than to keep white-knuckling it. Therapy is a practical way to get in front of this instead of managing it forever.

How we'll work together

I'm warm, but I'm direct. I'll listen closely, and I'll also tell you what I actually see. You stay in the driver's seat the whole way. The aim isn't to white-knuckle your way through life more efficiently. It's to understand what keeps happening and build ways of showing up that feel more like actually living.

Why I focus on this work

I've spent a lot of time thinking about men's inner lives, including graduate research on men's mental health and how the rules we absorb about toughness and self-reliance quietly shape our stress, our relationships, and whether we ever reach out for help.

Before therapy, I spent about a decade leading marketing and strategy teams, so I understand ambition, pressure, and high-functioning people who look fine from the outside. In session I draw on Emotionally Focused Therapy and attachment-based work, approaches with real evidence behind them for helping men reconnect with themselves and the people they love.
